Love at Midsummer
Love at Midsummer
Who loves a man
Who cannot be loved
Shared in the mind, the heart, the soul
Kept inside
Forlorn through the many years
That bursts its dams as rivers
gush
Once dammed, damn
What now of this love
The letters, the letters
The letters that bind
The letter that started all
The letters that harried the
end
The letters almost forgotten
Kept in drawers
The wrong time, wrong place
The meeting at the stand
The goodbye that sealed the
end
Yet, we meet again, when
So subtle, so light, so
buoyant
Alas across the years
Nothing, nothing has changed
On the half, of every year
Only at midsummer’s
A spring to tell, a rehearsed
stage
Only by a thread, we are
linked
On the longest day, of the
year
Content, content is the order
of the day
A deep content that refreshes
For touch to exist again
No, not on this side of the
world
But embracing in the unseen
In the parallel
Linked by a tender of thought,
a feeling
This perhaps is love
Till the next, midsummer
